Note N54After the early death of Joshua, Caroline was left Widowed at the ageof 48 with 12 children, 3 of who were under 10 years old, the youngest only 5 months old. In those days, there were no Pensions. One cannot be surprised that she married so soon after Joshua's death. Caroline Bennet remarried James Inglis on 4th June 1849 at the Geelong Presbyterian Church. James was born 1826 in Dundee, Scotland to Henry and Ellen Inglis. When James married Caroline Bennett in 1849, he was 23 years old while she was 48 with 12 children. There were no issues from the Inglis Marriage. Caroline died on 25th April 1881 at Drysdale aged 76 years. Cause of death is listed as Heart Disease - 3 weeks. The informant was James Inglis, husband, farmer of Drysdale. Caroline was buried at the Drysdale Cemetry by the Wesleyan Minister. The Geelong Advertiser newspaper of 26th April 1881 reads: "DEATH. Inglis - On 25th April at her residence, Drysdale, Mrs Inglis, aged 76 years, the beloved wife of Mr James Inglis. The funeral will move from her late residence, at 3 o'clock on Wednesday, the 27th inst, for the Drysdale Cemetery. Friends will please accept this invitation." Her Headstone reads: "CAROLINE The beloved wife of James Ingles Who died 25th April, 1881 Aged 76 Years. Weep not my froends and children dear I am not dead but sleeping here Wait a while, prepared be In a while you will follow me. Also SARAH The youngest daughter of the above. Who died September 25th, 1875 Aged 26 years. Not dead but sleepeth." After Caroline died in 1881, James remarried an Elizabeth Axam on 19th April 1882.
