MATTIE PARKER NEVER MARRIED. SHE WAS A TELEPHONE SWITCH BOARD OPERATOR. AT ONE TIME HAD MORE STOCK IN BELL TELEPHONE THAN ANY OTHER PERSON, SO THE FAMILY STORY GOES.

SHE WOULD VISIT HER NEPHEW CHESTER EDWARD PARKER IN THE EARLY 1930'S IN ST. LOUIS, COME BY TRAIN ALWAYS FROM HER HOME IN PEORIA, IL. SHE STAYED CLOSE TO HER NIECE EDITH KATHERINE MAY PARKER HOWARD AND HER FAMILY.SHE ALL HER LIFE WAS INVESTING IN OIL AND GAS RIGHTS, SOME IN THE STATE OF TEXAS.

IN 1959 HER ESTATE WAS ABOUT $12,000. GOT RID OF BELL TELEPHONE STOCKS AND INVESTED IN CANADIAN MINING STOCKS, ETC TO GET RICH QUICK, FLY BY NIGHT STOCKS AND LOST MONEY.

THIS WAS TOLD BY BOB TELFORD TO BARBARA PARKER IN NEW JERSEY ON A VISIT MARCH 2004.

BOB SAW MATTIE'S PICTURE AND REMEMBER HER WELL WITH A SMILE AND A LAUGH, HE STILL HAS SOME STOCKS WITH DIVIDENDS INHERITED FROM HIS FATHER THAT CAME FROM HER, MOST OF HER INVESTMENTS WERE NOT GOOD ONES AND SHOULD OF HUNG ON THE BELL TELEPHONE STOCKS, VERY THRIFTY.
