Biography

• Howard Patt was born in 1917 in Philadelphia, PA to Louis Patt and Rose Otto.
• His family moved to Phoenix, Arizona for many years to open a pharmacy as part of a family chain.
• As a teen, Howard moved to Los Angeles and lived with his uncle, Abe Otto.
• He graduated from Fairfax High School, Los Angeles, CA in 1934.
• In 1942 he graduated from the University of California with a medical degree.
• He went into the army in August of 1942 as a medic and served as a paratrooper medic in France. He was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of major.

In 1946.

• He did his surgical residency at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore, in the late 1940's.
• He practiced in Baltimore as a surgeon until his retirement in the 1980's.
• On August 3, 1947, he married Shirley Berman in Baltimore, Maryland.
• They had 3 sons: Robert, Stephen, and Richard.
• He and his wife lived in Baltimore until her death in 2001.
• He moved to Texas and lived with his youngest son, Rick, from 2003 to 2013.
• After Rick died he moved to Santa Monica where he lived for several months until his death.
• He died at the age of 95 on April 25, 2013, in an assisted living home in Santa Monica, CA.
