Biography
Caroline was born in 1892. She was the daughter of Friedrich Pauly and Sophia Wittmann. She passed away in 1975.
Her family moved to Springfield, Massachusetts, and by 1899 had settled in Lowell, Massachusetts where her father worked at "the" brewery. He had died by the time the 1910 Census was taken, as her mother is listed as a widow. Caroline was working as a "vamper" at a local shoe factory and all of her brothers were working as well. The family home on Louden St. was in the family until at least 1960.
She married Rayal Finch on October 8. 1914 in Lowell, Middlesex, Massachusetts. He was now a chauffeur and she was a knitter at one of the factories in the city. Their children were Sophie Marie Finch, Louis Finch, Frederick Rayal Finch (1915–1999), Rose M. (Finch) Stacey (1922–2020), William Whitman Finch (1929–2001) and Robert Albert Finch (1933–2021).
The 1930 Census lists Caroline as a homemaker and that she retired in 1933 from the John Pilling Shoe Factory after her son, Robert, was born. Throughout her life, she sang for civic and church functions.
Caroline passed away on 6 August, 1975 in Tewksbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts followed with burial at the Westlawn Cemetery in Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
