Clara (Peal) Johnson is a part of US Black heritage.
Clara was born March 24, 1937 in East St. Louis, St. Clair county, Illinois, USA, the daughter of John Peal and Alberta Richmond.
At the age of 3 in the 1940 Census, she was listed as the daughter of Sarah Henderson age 55 in Fireworks Station, Centreville, St.Clair county, Illinois but there was also a mistake calling another 3 year old female child listed as her grandson so Clara's relationship may not be correct.[1]
Her mother Alberta Peal and grandmother Estella Murray were also living in Firestation
St Clair County, Illinois as the heads of their own households.[2]
By the next Census, her mother Alberta was separated from her father.
Estella Murry 55, head, widowed, born Mississippi, Negro
Alberta Peel 30, dau, separated. born Mississippi, Negro
Clara Peel 13, grandau, born Illinois, Negro
She married Edward Johnson on March 24, 1970 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles county, California. She was 32 years old and he was 75.[4]
Clara died at the age of 69 on June 4, 2006 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California and was interred in an outside crypt in Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, Los Angeles, California. The Plot is Capistrano Gardens, Panel 43.[5][6]
