Biography

Birth

Theophilus Pease was the seventh child of Nathaniel Pease and Abigale Vincent. He was born in 1711 on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts Bay Colony.^[1]

Life Story

Theophilus was a laborer, husbandman and a mariner. Theophilus, Sr. bought land in Rochester in 1759, and by 1776 was definitely living there. By 1783, deeds filed in the courthouse no longer referred to Theophilus Jr. & Sr., as the elder had died.^[2]

Marriage

Jedidah Butler was born about 1711, and married Theophilus Pease, Sr. about 1730. She had 11 children, at least three of which ended up in Rochester.^[1]
