Biography

Elisha Pellum was born about 1753. His place of birth and parents are currently unknown. It is believed that Elisha is the brother of Mary Pellum who married Lydia Lockwood's brother Jacob Lockwood.

Before 1785, Elisha married Lydia Lockwood, daughter of James Lockwood and Mary Chesser (she went by the last name of her step-father, Hugh Norton). As can be seen by census records, they had a number of children

Research Notes

Revolutionary War:

  • Elisha Pellum, Westchester County Militia, Fourth Regiment.[8]
  • Elisha Pellem, Westhchester, New York, Third Regiment.[9]
  • Elisha Pellum, Fifer, New York Militia, Graham's Regiment.[10]
  • 11 Jul 1785, Elisha Pellum received of Lt. Col. Thads Crane three State Certificates for thirty-one pounds, four shillings & nine pence in full for service in his Regiment for the years 1779, 1780 & 1781 in Crane's Regiment, New York Militia; signed with his mark.[11]

  • Elisha L. Pellham, Fifer, 1833, Orange County, New York, Survivor's Pension Application File.[13]

I do not believe Elisha L. Pelham is the same person as Elisha Pellum of Pound Ridge.
