George Gillam Pelton was born in 1838 in Bishopgate, London the son of George Samuel Pelton, a porter and Harriet Gillham[1]
George's mother died in the same year as his birth and on 15 April 1841 his father remarried to Catherine Forest, the daughter of John Forrest, a plumber. George had a late baptism on 1 December 1844 in London, England. His mother was wrongly given as Katherine, his fathers second wife.[2]
George married Martha Gregory on 18 June 1863 in West Ham, All Saints, Essex, England.[3]
