Edward Pendergrass was born in 1765 at Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia Colony.[1] His parents are not yet identified.
While living in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, he enlisted in 1779 as a Private under Captain Samuel Postlethwaite, Major Wilson, and Lieutenant Holmes in the Pennsyvania Line. He was discharged in 1780. [2] He was allowed a pension for his service.[3]
After the Revolution, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland, then returned to Pennsylvania for a short while. Then he moved to Kentucky, and from there, to Ripley County, Indiana.[3]
His wife's name was Mary (maiden name unknown).[4][1]

In 1840, he was living in Ripley, Indiana, where the census lists him as a head of household.[5]
Edward Pendergrass passed away after 1850 in Washington, Ripley County, Indiana.[1]
