Biography

James was born in 1925. He was the son of William Pendergrass and Pernia Marler.

William's first wife, Mary Emma died in 1911. He then married Pernia Edworta (Eddie) Marler. Their family can be found living at 67 Chester Street in a home they were renting in Alexandria, Rapides Parish, Louisiana at the time of the 1930 Census. Those in the household included William Pendergrass (53 yrs), Head of Household, occupation, Carpenter in the Housing industry, Eddie Pendergrass (37 yrs), Yvonie Pendergrass (13 yrs), Lovina Pendergrass (10 yrs), Floyd Pendergrass (7 yrs), James Pendergrass (4 yrs) and Bertie Pendergrass (3/12 yrs). Also included in the household were William's stepchildren, Willie Brock (26 yrs), occupation, Logger in the Trucking industry and Janie Brock (23 yrs). The ages give at the time of their first marriages were 18 for William and 20 for Eddie.

He passed away in 1953.
