Biography

John was born about 1816. He was the son of Richard Pennefather and Jane Bennett.

He was a graduate of Balliol College, Oxford, became Q.C. and a bencher of King's Inns, Dublin.[1]

He took part in the second Boat race between Oxford and Cambridge teams on 17th June 1836 which was the first race to be held in London Oxford were favourites to win but sadly did not as Cambridge proved the stronger team [2]

He married Elizabeth Jemima (Mullins) De Moleyns on 8 August 1842. The name on the marriage License bond was Eliza Jemima de Moleyns. [3]The family name had changed from Mullins to De Moleyns in 1842

On the 8th inst at St Peter's Church, Dublin John Pennefather Esq second son of the Hon Baron Pennefather, to Eliza daughter of the late Hon. Edward de Moleyns and granddaughter of Thomas Lord Ventry

He passed away in 1855. Last address - Merrion Square South, Dublin. Probate in 1855 [5] [6]

Pennefather-154 and Pennefather-60 appear to represent the same person because: 1st Marriage to Eliza Mullins in 1842 , 2nd marriage to Rose Mahony 1852. same address in Dublin 5 Merrion square. and same father judge Richard Pennefather.
