As of the 1861 England census, James was living with his parents and sister in Prescot, Lancashire, and was working as a glass cutter. His name was spelled as Pinnington.[3]
As of the 1871 England census, James was just living with his mother, a widow, and his sister in Widnes, Lancashire. He was still working as a glass cutter.[4]
In the 1881 England census, James was married to Ann Pennington (born 1849 in Liverpool) and they were living in Eccleston. James was a glass cutter.[5]
In the 1901 England census, he was still married to Ann Pennington (born 1849 in Liverpool) and they were living in St Helen's with their niece Irene Hosker. James was a glass cutter.[6]
Based on the census records, they did not have any children.
