Biography

Translated from Latin to English (excerpt from the parish record): John Peploe, of Penkridge, takes care [we are], the parish Church, commonly called the Castle recently died, and was succeeded by William Horn, entered the office of the Curate of the Church of the said Castle, on the thirteenth of the month of April 1729[1] [2]

Will of Rev John Peploe of Penkridge died March 20th 1729/30

It set up a trust fund to provide annuities from his leasehold properties held from Lord Brooke. 1) Mary Ward £1 per annum 2) Elizabeth Chamley £5.5.0 per annum 3) Nathaniel £2.10.0 per annum (Elizabeth and Nathaniel are not allowed to sell annuities) 4) William's small children, John and Margaret £7 between them. 5) Anything left over for John's benefit. 6) A bed to John and tankard to John's son William 7) Remainder of estate to be sold by John and proceeds used for education and maintenance of William's children. Capital to be divided between them at 21.

Overseer to Will to be Paul Peploe of Dawley gent, brother to Bishop Peploe.[3]

John was a supporter of the Duke of Monmouth's Rebellion of 1682 Known as the 'fanatical parson of Penkridge' [3]
