Biography

Marian was born in 1908. She was the daughter of George Pepper and Mabel Marsh. [1]

She married Joseph Lyford in 1928. His sister Marjorie married Joseph's brother, Russell.

Marion passed away in 1995. [2]

Obituary

LOVES PARK - Marian E. Lyford, 87, of Loves Park, entered into eternal life at 8:03 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 1995, at her home following a series of illnesses.

Born Nov. 7, 1908, in Rockford, daughter of George and Mabel Marsh Pepper. Lifelong Guilford resident. Married Joseph H. Lyford in Rockford on June 14, 1928; he died Oct. 8, 1973.

Member of Willow Creek Presbyterian Church, church Fellowship Circle, Quilters Group and Lark-a-Lots. Also a charter member of Winnebago County Home Bureau and served on Past Board. Member of Guilford Unit of Winnebago County Homemaker's Extension, Guilford Gleaners Missionary Society, Guilford Hope Grange, and JFF Club. Graduated with honors from Rockford High School.

Her life revolved around her beloved family. She was committed to the organizations she belonged to and to her needlework projects. A special thank you to the Drefus home care workers who lovingly attended to her every need for the past three years.

Survivors include son, David (Judy) Lyford, Rockford; three daughters, JoAnne (Wilbur) Reid, Caledonia, Janice (Douglas) Leitz, Loves Park, and Laura (Anthony) Peterson, Loves Park; sister, Marjorie (Russell) Lyford; brother, Robert (Charlotte) Pepper; nine grandchildren, Kathleen (Ron) Owens, Mary (Earl) Gloeckner, John (Kim) Reid, Barbara (Kenneth) Amos, Bradley Lyford, Daniel (Kim) Sarver, Garry Sarver, Christine Peterson and Andrea Peterson; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law Emily Pearse and Clara Lyford; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents.

Services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21 in SUNSET FUNERAL HOME, 8800 N Alpine Road, with the Rev. Jack Harrison, pastor of Willow Creek Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials to Willow Creek Presbyterian Church. [3]
