Biography

Elman was born on July 28, 1927 in West LaFayette, Tippicanoe County, Indiana. ^[1] He was the son of Owen Perkins and Lydia Ruth Shonkwiler. ^[2]

In the 1930 US Census, Elmand (age 2) was the son of Ira O Owen in West Lafayette, Wabash Township, Tippecanoe, Indiana, United States.^[3]

In the 1940 US Census, Elman (age 12) was the son of Owen Perkins in Raub, York Township, Benton, Indiana, United States.^[4]

On July 28, 1945, he registered with the US Word War II draft. He is 5' 7", 135 lbs., light complexion, blue eyes, and brown hair. ^[5]

In the 1950 US Census, Elman (age 23), Assembly Line, was the never married son of Owen Perkins in York Township, Benton, Indiana, United States.^[6]

Pedro died on April 25, 1990 in Kentland, Newton, Indiana, United States. ^[7]

Elman D. Perkins, 62, native of Lafayette

KENTLAND – Elman D. "Pedro" Perkins, 62, of 706 N. First St., died Wednesday at his home. He had been in ill health for six years.

He had been a car salesman for several years, and also worked at Try State Supply in Kentland.

Born July 28, 1927, in Lafayette, he moved to Kentland in 1939, and graduated from Raub High School in 1945. He married Lucille Wagner on June 2, 1951, in Remington, and she survives.

Mr. Perkins was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kentland.

Also surviving are his mother, Ruth Shonkwiler Perkins of Kentland, and a sister, Eris Purcell of Indianapolis.
