Biography

Rufus R Perkins was born 29 Apr 1869, died 10 Dec 1915 and is buried at Cedar Rest Cemetery in Bay Saint Louis, Hancock County, Mississippi.^[1]

He married Dora Lott (d.1895) on 23 Nov 1893 in Coffee, Georgia.^[2]

Dora died in 1895 and he remarried to her sister, Temperance "Tempie" Lott, on 2 Dec 1896 in Coffee, Georgia.^[3] They had several children.

From his obituary:

"Mr. Perkins was a remarkably successful businessman and one of the Bay’s most prominent and progressive citizens. He was president of the Imperial Naval Stores Company, and also president of the Merchants Bank. He was interested in various business enterprises both here and elsewhere, and the loss of a man of his business capacity will be felt heavily by the community. Large hearted and generous to a fault, he shared liberally of his means with those less fortunate than himself, and his untimely death has brought sincere sorrow to a large circle of friends who knew and loved him."^[4]
