In 1871 Jacob (age about 6) was living in Treverbyn. St Austell, Cornwall, England. aged 8, the eldest child in the family, a scholar.[1]

In 1881 Jacob (age about 16) was living in Whitewell Bottom, Newchurch, Lancashire, England. son, 17, cotton mule piecer[2]
