At the 4th Reunion of the 105th Ohio, F. A. Pettibone “of Ashtabula, … proceeded to introduce Colonel Perkins, of Akron. After a few remarks of greeting; the Colonel introduced Mayor H. L. The prosecuting attorney of Ashtabula county, O., is under a cloud. A dispatch says: "A numerously signed complaint has been filed with the clerk of Common Pleas Court of the county, charging F. E. Pettibone, prosecuting attorney, with wanton and willful neglect of duty and gross misconduct in office, and asking that investigation be had and the office declared vacant. Ten charges are made, among which are misconduct before the grand jury, drunkenness, and the failure to account for fines and costs coming into his hands by virtue of his office. Reuben Harmon, one of Pettibone's bondsmen, files a supplemental complaint, charging in addition to the above, that he was induced to assign the bond through fraudulent representations."

DEATH OF F. A. PETTIBONE. The death of Frank A. Pettibone occurred at midnight on Friday of last week at his home on Vine Street in this city, after a lingering illness of nearly a year. The cause of his death was consumption, brought on by severe exposure last winter, and though he received the best of medical treatment it was impossible to stop the progress of the disease. He was conscious up to the time of his death, and for some time past prayed to be restored to health that he might spend the remainder of his life in religious work, striving to save young men and others from intemperance and wickedness. He was 43 years of age, and before the illness that terminated in his death was of robust appearance. He was a man of pleasant address, intelligent, and naturally quick and witty. As an attorney he was considered one of the brightest young lawyers at the Ashtabula county bar, and but for his one great weakness - intemperance - would likely have lived a long and useful life. He was born in Indiana Sept. 18, 1843, and soon after removed with his parents to Girard, Pa. His mother died when he was an infant, and his father died when he was seven years of age. When Frank was ten years of age, his step-mother was married to the late Peter Wright, and he then removed to East Ashtabula and lived on a farm. In 1861 he commenced reading law in the office of Hon. L. S. Sherman, but soon after enlisted in Co. G, 105th Ohio Volunteer Infantry for the war. He made a faithful and popular soldier, and at the close of the war returned home, and was married in 1865 to Miss Jennie C. Kinney of Geneva. He was admitted to the bar and practiced law in that village for several years, after which he removed to Ashtabula. He served two terms as City Solicitor of Ashtabula and was twice elected Prosecuting attorney of Ashtabula county on the Republican ticket. As a political and temperance orator he had few superiors. His friends recognized his talents and they spared no pains in assisting him in his political and professional aspirations. He leaves a devoted wife, and a son of about 16 years of age. The funeral obsequies were held last Monday. Brief services were held at the deceased’s late residence; afterwards, at his request, from the Methodist Episcopal Church, and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. G. W. Gray, assisted by Rev. W. E. Feeman of the Baptist, and Rev. S. B. Hershey of the Congregational Church. The burial rite was performed by Paulus Post, G.A.R., in a solemn and impressive manner. Mr. Pettibone had many friends in Ashtabula, as the presence of the large audience attending the church service indicated. The bereaved wife and only son have a large place in the hearts and sympathies of numerous friends.
