Biography
Hector was born in 1791. He is the son of Chauncey Pettibone and Theodosia Hayes. His middle name is found in the Pettibone Registry as Decastus. [1]
His name on his headstone is Dorastus, not Hector.
Hector D. Pettibone served in the War of 1812 ['Soldiers of the War of 1812 Who Died in Michigan,' in Michigan Heritage 4:1. Autumn 1962, Whole No. 13]. In the same article he is listed as living in Eaton County, Michigan, in 1857
In the 1850 US Census, Hector is found in Claridon, Marion, Ohio, United States, aged 59, with his son john, 28, born in Connecticut and Lester Pettibone aged 15, born in Ohio. [2]
