Elizabeth Washington Peyton was born between 1781 and 1789, in Virginia, a daughter of Valentine Peyton and Mary Butler Washington. Elizabeth's father was a Surgeon in the Third Regiment of the Continental Army, during the American Revolutionary War.
Elizabeth married Edward Hugh Henry, a son of Judge James Henry and Sarah Scarborough. Edward's father, Henry James was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1775 to 1779 and a Member of the Continental Congress of the newly formed United States, following the American Revolutionary War, in 1780 to 1781. Henry James was a Judge in the Virginia Court of Admiralty from 1782 to 1783. Applications for membership in the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution have been made by the descendants of Elizabeth and Edward, based on Henry James' Civil Service. [1]
Edward Hugh Henry died in 1815, at the age of 33-34 years of age. [2] Elizabeth married, secondly, Reverend George Patterson.
