Biography
Birth and Parents
William Phillips was born in St Erth, Cornwall, England.
William, the son of John Phillips (1787-1835) and Anne Semmens (1783-1850) was born say 1817 at St Erth, Cornwall.
Marriage
William married Elizabeth Carlyon, the daughter of of Richard Carlyon (1800-1862) and Christiana Scholar (1803-1887) on 18 September 1840 at Breage, Cornwall, England.[1]They had nine children born at Cornwall:
- William Phillips (b. 1840; d. 1847),
- Richard Carlyon Phillips (b. 1842; d. 1904),
- William Phillips (b. 1855),
- Charlotte Ann Phillips (b. 1856; d. 1937),
- John Phillips (b. 1859),
- Prudence Jane Phillips (b. 1860; d. 1861),
- Prudence Jane Phillips (b. 1861; d. 1863),
- Sophia Ellen Phillips (b. 1862; d. 1948),
- James Henry Phillips (b. 1867)
Death
William Phillips died in June 1871 in his 54th year and was buried on 26 June 1871 at Wheal Vor, Breage, Cornwall.[2]
