Mary Ann was born in Roche in about 1850.[1]
On December 24th 1887, Mary Ann married Richard Bray, a flour dealer. The marriage took place in the parish of Luxulyan. Mary was from Luxulyan, and Richard's residence was Carloggas, St Austell. Both were previously unmarried. Richard's father was recorded as Walter Bray, Captain of Clay Work '(dead)'; and Mary Ann's was William Phillips, Farmer, '(dead)'. The witnesses were William John Phillips and Charlotte Maria Rashleigh. [2]
When the 1891 Census was taken Mary Ann and Richard were living at Carloggas, in the parish of Treverbyn, near St Austell, with their 2 year old son William. Richard was working as a Corn and Flour Merchant. In the next household were Richard's brother Samuel and his family. [1]
