In the England and Wales Census of 1851 he was age 9, living in Cardiganshire with his mother Rachel (age 55), sister Kitty Jones (age 25), sister Margaret (age 14), and Lodger Catharine Jones (age 89).
In the England and Wales Census of 1861 he was age 19, living in Gwnnws Lower, Cardiganshire, Wales with mother Rachel (age 63).
At the time of the 1871 England and Wales Census, Thomas, Margaret, David, Thomas H, and Elizabeth Phillips were listed as living in Aberystwyth, along with a servant.[1] At the time of the census, Thomas' occupation was listed as "Inn Keeper".
Thomas married Margaret Evans in Llanilar, Cardiganshire on 2 September 1868. Their marriage was registered in Aberystwyth, Cardiganshire in the third quarter of 1868.[2]
