Biography

When Braxton Phillips was born in 1853 in Huntsville, Arkansas, his father, Reuben Phillips, was 25 and his mother, Rebecca (Hawkins) Phillips, was 25 (1860 Huntsville, Madison, Arkansas census).

He married Clementine Thelma 'Buss' Bupp on April 15, 1879, in Parker, Texas (source: Texas Marriages, 1837-1973; Texas, County Marriage Records). They had at least five children during their marriage (1880 Parker, TX census):

  • Sallie PHILLIPS Wood, 1880–1956
  • Walter Phillips, 1882–1947
  • Marshall Clinton Phillips, 1885–1943
  • Irby O Phillips, 1887–1916
  • Maud Eunice (PHILLIPS) Winter, 1889–1936
