Biography

Sarah Frances Phillips was born on December 9, 1844,in Stewart County, Tennessee.[1][1] She was the daughter of Abraham Phillips (1815-1864) and Martha Patsy Ethridge (1817-). At age 15, she was in her parent's home in Stewart County, Tennessee, along with her sister Margret-13.[2]

She married Harrison Clay "Harry" Agy on September 27, 1865 in Stewart County, Tennessee.[3] They had 3 children.

  1. Martha Ann "Viney" Agy (1868-1910)[4]
  2. George Payton Agy (1872-1952)[4]
  3. Leoma F Agy (1876-)[4]

Sarah, Harry and their daughter Martha-1, were living with Sarah's mother Martha Phillips and family in 1870 in Stewart County, Tennessee, where Harry was working as a Farm Hand and she working as a domestic servant.[5]

They were living in Panther Creek, Stewart County, Tennessee in 1880, where Harry was farming ,and she was taking care of the home and children, Martha-11, and George-8 and Leoma F-4.[4]

They were in Stewart County, Tennessee in 1900, where he was farming and Sarah was taking care of the home and family, which included their son George and wife, daughter, Vinie, with her husband and children, his Mother-in-Law, Martha Phillips-82, and a Boarder.

He and Sarah were living with their son George, and family in 1910, in Tennessee Ridge, Houston County, Tennessee.[6]

By 1920, at age 76, and 75, they were living next door to their son George in Houston County, Tennesse where they were renting a home.[7]

Her husband Harrison passed away in 1931 in Tennessee Ridge, Houston County, Tennessee, at the age of 88, and was buried in the Busby Cemetery in Houston County, Tennessee. They had been married 58 years.[8]

Sarah died on November 17, 1931, in Tennessee Ridge, Tennessee, when she was 86 years old.[1]
