Sarah (Pierce) Gilbert was a Carolina colonist.

Sarah Pierce was born 24 April 1702, a Quaker.[1]. She is the daughter of Thomas Pierce and Mary Kent. [2]

On the 1st day of the 6th month, 1722, George Sutton and Sarah Pierce, daughter of Thomas Pierce, declared their intentions to be married at the Perquimans Monthly Meeting.[3] They were married on 25 October 1722.[4]

In March-April 1724, by petitions of Sarah Sutton, widow and relict of George Sutton, and Nathaniel Sutton, on behalf of the heirs of George Sutton, late of Perquimans Precinct, who died intestate, Charles Denman, Richard Ratcliff, Richard Skinner and Jonathan Phelps were appointed to appraise the estate and make a division.[5]

Sarah Sutton, of Perquimans, relict of George Sutton, married John Williams of Perquimans Precinct at the home of Thomas Pierce of Perquimans Precinct on the 22nd day of the 2nd month, 1725.[6]

John Williams of Albemarle County executed his will on 29 January 1727/8, witnessed by Thomas Pierce, Sr., Sarah Pierce and Charles Denman, left legacies, including a negro boy Ned, to his wife Sarah Williams, his daughter Mary Williams when she arrives at age 16, and to "ye child my loveing wife goes withall." It was proved by affirmation of Thomas Pierce and by oath of Charles Denman. Letters of administration were granted on 11 April 1728.[7]

On the 2nd day of the 10th month, 1730, Josiah Gilbert and Sarah Williams were given leave by the Perquimans monthly meeting to set a date to be married.[8] They were married on the 23rd day of the 10th month, 1730 at the home of Thomas Pierce.[9]

Their son Joseph Gilbert was born on the 13th day of the 8th month, 1731.[10]

Sarah was still living when her father Thomas Pierce executed his will on the 8th day of the 12th month, called February, 1732/3.[11]

Sutton-2213 and Pierce-2631 appear to represent the same person because: they are the same person -- Sutton-2213 didn't account for Sarah's first husband and maiden name, which is why it looks funny.
