William was born in 1822.[1] He was the son of Isaac Pierson and Pluma Freeman.

In 1865 he settled in El Paso and was a lawyer, and later a judge. In 1882 he built the Pierson Hotel[2], which became a landmark hotel in El Paso. After his death, he left the bulk of his wealth to his nephew's widow and family - E. M. Bell and her 2 children Frank and Nellye. [3][4]

He passed away in 1883.[1][5][6]
