Jonas Goding Pike was the seventh child and the fourth son born to James and Augusta (Goding) Pike. He was born on 5 September 1833 in Jay, Maine.[1]
Jonas lived in his father's household in 1850. The family still resided in Jay, Maine. The household included the following members:

Some time in the ten years between the 1850 Census and the 1860 Census, Jonas Pike married Lucretia B Smith. The couple had 14 children together - six sons and eight daughters, all listed below:
Like his father, Jonas was also a farmer. By 1860, Jonas and Lucretia had welcomed the first two of their 14 children. Jonas's brother, Sylviro, was also part of the household and helped Jonas with the farm in Jay, Maine. Jonas Pike's household in 1860 consisted of the following people:
