David Pineo was a locomotive engineer. He was born in Milltown, Maine, USA, to father David Pineo Sr., from Machias, ME, and mother Amelia Hall, from St. Stephen, NB. One document records his ethnicity as Scottish.
He had been living in Moncton, NB, for many years, and was a 55-year-old widower, when he married Maggie Estano in October of 1903.[1]
From a birth certificate prepared years later (1928), we learn that his previous wife's name had been Hettie Dowling, 20 years his junior. They had a daughter born 15 Aug 1892, whom they named Beulah M. Pineo. This was the third time that Hettie had given birth, although only one of the earlier children was still alive on that date. (That is, unless the person preparing the birth certificate in 1928 was referring to all of Hettie's births, ever.) The family's address in 1892 had been on "Archibald".
David Pineo's death certificate shows he passed away at home, 21 Highfield St., in Moncton, on 29 June 1926, from an "intestinal obstruction", a few days after surgery for a colostomy. The document adds that this had been his residence for the past 51 years (i.e., since about 1865). His burial was at Elmwood Cemetery.[2]
