Alice Pinkett was born on 23 Feb 1908 in Maryland. She was the daughter of Daniel Pinkett and Sarah Peaker.
Alice married Rev. William S. McLeod (1900-1963).
She was a graduate of Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland and received her Master of Arts degree from Columbia University in New York City, USA.
For 37 years she was a teacher in the High Point City Schools, retiring in 1971.
She died on 17 Oct 1993 at Wesley Nursing Center in Charlotte. North Carolina, USA. [1] [2] and was buried at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. [3] [4]
High Point - Mrs. Alice (Pinkett McLeod), outstanding educator, churchwoman, and civic leader, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1993, at Wesley Nursing Center, Charlotte. She had been a resident of the Methodist Retirement Center since 1985.
Mrs. McLeod was born in Princess Ann, MD, a daughter of the late Daniel James and Sarah E. (Peaker) Pinkett. She was a graduate of Morgan State University, Baltimore, and received her Master of Arts degree from Columbia University, New York City. For 37 years she was a teacher in the High Point City Schools, retiring in 1971.
She served as president of the NCTA and on many boards in the city of High Point. She also served the United Methodist Church in many areas which included the National Division Board of Missions, the Western North Carolina Conference Council on Ministries, vice president of the Southeastern Jurisdictional Council on Ministries and on the boards of the Triad in Winston-Salem, and the Retirement Center, Charlotte. She was member and past president of the High Point Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, member of the Alpha Art Civic Club, Tsugani Club, Hi-Boro, and the Yadseut Club. Her husband, the Rev. W. S. McLeod, died Jan. 6, 1963.
Surviving are sister, Ms. Roxie Pinkett of Princess Ann, MD; brother, G. McCullough Pinkett of Manokin Manor Nursing Center, Princess Ann, MD; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. John Epps. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Guilford Memorial Park.
The body will remain at Haizlip Funeral Home until placed in the church Thursday evening at 6 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The Omega-Omega service will take place at 6:45 p.m. by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

She was a great-aunt of entertainer Jada (Pinkett) Smith through a brother, Maslin F. Pinkett Sr., who was Mrs. Smith's great-grandfather.
