Biography

Samuel was born in 1722. He was the son of Otis Pinkham and Abigail Tibbetts. He passed away about 1790.[1]

Parents and birth date in Hollick [2]

Parents, birth date and location,[3] spouse, "prior-to" death date and location,[4] and "Administration of Samuel‘s estate was granted to Steven Pinkham, Rochester, husbandman, and Paul Pinkham of Dover was named a surety. No heirs are listed.[5] No deeds are recorded for Samuel in either the provincial or Strafford County Deeds. In certain sources Samuel is credited with being the father of Phebe Pinkham who married Samuel Knute in Dover 21 August 1769.[6] However, the timeline does not allow for this. Susannah Canney is clearly born in 1739 and cannot have a daughter of marriageable age by 1769 unless there are two successive 15 year old girls marrying– –highly unlikely. More research is needed for this family.[7] Likely as a result of Susannah’s impending remarriage, this couple’s two minor children were placed under guardianship on 10 February 1779. The court appointed the children’s uncle, Paul Pinkham, yeoman of Dover, as guardian of Steven and Judith, who were both under 14[8]" in Hollick.[9]

  7. One theory would be that she may well be a Susannah Canney but not the one born in 1739. An earlier birth might allow for more children from this couple.
