Biography
Lewis "Lovett" PIPKIN married Catherine Duncan, November 18, 1805. Born about 1776 in Wayne County, North Carolina and died abt 1839 and is buried in St Clair County, Alabama. Lovett was the son Willis and Sylvia Rhodes Pipkin.
Lovett served in the War of 1812 in a detached company of militia drawn from Wayne County under the command of Capt David Wasdin, stationed at New Bern, North Carolina from July 17 to August 17 1813. The rolls had him as Lewis Pipkin in 2nd (Bruton's) Regt NC Militia, although a note on rolls says that the name in the muster column was Lavate. Lovett apparently drew no pension or bounty land for there is no record of such in his military file.
