This profile originally had a birth location of Dreghorn, Ayrshire. However, as well as being a parish in Ayrshire, Dreghorn is also an area near Edinburgh, Midlothian. In this case, the Midlothian Dreghorn seems to be the relevant one as described in The history of the Fife Pitcairns;
Dreghorn Castle, the old home of this Branch of the Pitcairns, is situated in a romantic and picturesque valley through which runs the Water of Leith. It is about two and a half miles south-west from Edinburgh; but though so near a large town, it still retains its old sylvian beauty. Dreghorn is in the parish of Colinton, and the name of the estate is a very old one.[6]
