Biography
Jonathan was born in 1744.[1][2] He passed away in 1826 and is buried in Water Street Cemetery, Great Barrington, MA.[3]
He married Mabel Fowler in 1774.[4] They had seven children:[5]
- Jacob, 1779-1857
- Benton, 1783-1835
- Electa, 1788-1819
- Phineas, 1790-1882
- Jonathan, 1792-1792
- Lucia, 1794-1878
- Lebbeus, 1796-1882
During the Revolutionary War Jonathan was a member of Capt. Hewit Root’s company, Berkshire County Militia. During the Battles of Saratoga, his regiment was called up in July 1777 to garrison Fort Edward, New York, and again for 25 days in September.[6][7]
