Isaac was the son of Christian Plank and Elizabeth Kurtz. He was a widower when he married Elizabeth, having been first married to Lydia Schrock.

Obituary Isaac J Plank was born near Wooster, Wayne County, Ohio October 17, 1821, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs J J Troyer of Pretty Prairie,March 16, 1904. Aged 82 years, 4 months, 29 days. Mr Plank was a family of twelve children, five of whom survive him, C J Plank of Pretty Prairie, Mrs David Blough and Mrs Sarah Hartzler of Goshen, Mrs Nancy Grady and Mrs Sol Blough of Middlebury. In 1843 he was united in marriage to Lydia Schrock, who died in 1849. To this union three children were born Levi, of Rice County, Kansas, Jacob of McMinnville, Oregon, and Elizabeth (Mrs J J Troyer) of Pretty Prairie. In 1850 he was again married to Elizabeth Nofsinger of Wayne County, Ohio, who still survives. Six children were born to this union, two of whom died in infancy and one Ephriam K died about a year ago at the Battle Creek Sanitarium in his 44 year. The surviving ones are Christian V of Rice County, Kansas, David and Isaac H of Garfield County Oklahoma.

In 1852 he with his family came with his team and wagon to Indiana settling near Middlebury. The team, harness and wagon and about 820 cash being the aggregate of his worldly possessions. After five years of hard labor spent in timber and rocks of that county and much sickness in his family he came to Pretty Prairie and bought the John Knight farm on the west side of the Prairie, the farm now occupied by John Kauffman. This farm he improved and added to until it became one of the best in the vicinity.

In the spring of 1882 he sold the old homestead and the following winter moved to Cass County, Mo where he purchased another farm, one of the best improved in the county. Here with his three sons, David, Ephriam and Isaac resided until the fall of 1889, when concluding to retire from active farm life, he sold the farm and personal property and in the following spring with his wife came back to Pretty Prairie and have since made their home with Mr and Mrs J J Troyer, where the widow still resides. Mr Plank's descendents consists of nine children, thirty-one grandchildren and thirty-nine great grandchildren.

In early life he united with the Amish Mennonite Church of which he remained a member until the time of his death. He was a kind father, an affectionate husband and an upright honorable man esteemed by all with whom he came in contact and will be greatly missed by his family and a large circle of friends.

The funeral service will be held at the Pretty Prairie Church at 2 o'clock Friday conducted by Rev Berger of Brighton. Sermon from 28th verse of the 5th chapter of St John. Internment in Pretty Prairie cemetery.
