John Plumptre MP is Notable.

John Plumptre was a Whig politician in the first part of the 18th century.

He was the son and heir of Henry Plumptre and his second wife Joyce Sacheverell, [1] [2] christened at St Peter's church, Nottingham, on 19 January 1679/80.

He was admitted to the Middle Temple on 4 July 1696 [3] and to Queens' College Cambridge on 5 May 1697. [4]

He followed his father as a Whig, Parliament to represent the borough of Nottingham discontinuously from 1706. [5] From 1704 he was Governor of the family's charity, Plumptre Hospital, and restored it to fulfill the original intentions of the founder. [6]

He married Annabella, daughter of Sir Francis Molyneux bt, at Teversal, Nottinghamshire, on 3 October 1707.[7] They had a numerous family of six sons and four daughters. Several of the sons took up careers in the church.

He was named as a trustee and executor in the 1749 Will [8] of his brother Fitzwilliam Plumptre Esq.

He was buried at St Mary's Nottingham on 7 October 1751. [9]
