Biography

John was baptized 1 October 1838 at Haslingden Grane. He was the son of Joseph Pollit and Mary Lucas. ^{[1] [2]}

Research Notes

Orpha Duckworth marries in 1866 at registry office to a John Pollit, who was born in Haslingden about 1839 according to later censuses. They move to Alverthorpe-with-Thornes, Yorkshire by 1871.

We have not found any other census records for a John Pollit born Haslingden after 1851 so this seems likely to be correct; however it would be good to order the marriage certificate and verify.

The marriage would probably have been at registry office due to Orpha being a Methodist while John was not.

Assuming the marriage is correct, then this death record looks likely: 1890 Q1, Wakefield 9c 50. John Pollitt, age 51.
