Biography
Elizabeth Poole is believed to be a daughter of Basill Poole II. Basil Poole II owned a portion of the "Cow Pasture" land grant, as did Charles Miles later, although Charles obtained his portions from Henry Griffith and Arnola T. Windsor.
1763 Birth and Parents
Janice Parker has estimated that the Elizabeth Poole who married Charles Miles 31 July 1781 in Montgomery County, if aged 18 at her marriage, was born 1783 or earlier..[1] This estimate is seconded by the Find a Grave entry which also gives 1763 as Elizabeth Poole's birth year. [2]
Mollie King calls attention that Elizabeth was the daughter of Basil Poole II (1726-1802) and that it was his father, Basil Poole I (1692-1770), who married Lois Shipley (1704-1770) [3]
An Ancestry site confuses two Basil Pooles, saying that Elizabeth Poole was born on 1761 to Basil Poole (1740-1770) and Lois Shipley (1705-1771). [4] Lois Shipley was married to Basill Poole I, and they together were the parents of Basill Poole II.
1781 Marriage
On July 31, 1781 in Montgomery County Elizabeth Poole married Charles Miles (1760-1842). [2]
1795 Death
Elizabeth died before 1795, since Charles Miles married his second wife in 1795. The fact that his second wife was also named Elizabeth may account for the erroneous death year of 16 May 1803 reported in Find a Grave, which notes that her burial was non-cemetery[2]
Her youngest child having been born in 1795, she may have died in childbirth.
