Auckland Star, Volume XXXV, Issue 284, 28 November 1904, Page 2 THE NORMAN PORCH that appeared at the Police Court last week is not Norman Stanley Cotton Porch, son of William Porch, Onehunga. Lucie Irvine Porch[1]
March, 1900 Young Norman Porch, son of 'Bill' of that ilk, promises to turn out a tip-top bowler. Playing for Ellerslie against Y.M.C.A. on Saturday, he captured 7 wickets for 11 rans, and to my mind is worth a place in any Auckland senior eleven...[2]
In 1911, Norman was a Clerk living in Beach Rd, Devonport, a year later he married Berth Maud Harvey (of 177 Victoria Rd, Devonport).
In 1913, the couple had a daughter, Nora Lucy Porch (born in Devonport). Between 1914-18 New Zealand WW1 soldiers record him as living at 177 Victoria Rd, Devonport!
In 1916 another daughter was born, Margaret Noel (Peg) Porch.
He died, aged 39, on September 13, 1921 at his home on Great South Road, Ellerslie. Purewa Cemetery Record he was a Government Employee, b 1882, in Auckland.
Norman's last residence Gt South Rd, Ellerslie (and someone has errantly transcribed his middle name as Coxton). Possible cause of death being Peritonitis. Norman was buried on 15 Sep 1921, burial no. 7836 Area A, Row 29, Plot 35 at Purewa Cemetery. The plot was purchased by Mrs Porch.
The Ellerslie address concurs with the Advertisement placed by Bertha in August 1923.
