PETER HENRY PORTEOUS

"Mr. P.H. Porteous who for the past sixteen years has been a resident of Beamsville, passed away Thursday, July 29, 1926, in his 75th year. Deceased was born in Markham in 1850. During his life in Beamsville he has been very prominent in church societies. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, four sons and two daughters: James, Thomas and Rueben of Cheadle, Alta., and Earl of Teeswater; Mrs. H. Banks [My note: Viola Gertrude Porteous Banks, born in 1900 in Chesley, Ontario] of Hamilton Beach and Mrs. H. Clayton, of Toronto.

The funeral service was held on Sunday, August 1st, and was conducted by Rev. G.E. Smith. Interment took place in Mt. Osborne cemetery.

The pallbearers were: S.M. Culp, W. Boyd, F. Dennison, J.H. Wismer, A.T. Garrold and W. Lane."
