Nathan Jeremiah Powell was born on March 13, 1829, in Jackson County, Georgia, his father, Asa, was 32 and his mother, Mary, was 29. He married Thursey Jane Traylor and they had three children together. After Thursey's death Nathan married Carrie Frances Goggins and they had three children together. He died on September 11, 1915, in Haralson County, Georgia, having lived a long life of 86 years.
