Notes: The possibility that Hardy Crawford's daughter was married to John Powers is a far fetched idea, but one I thought deserved a second look. I found a "Hardy Powers" on the Richmond Co NC 1792-1793 Sheriff's tax list, for 0 acres and 1 pole. This was a transcribed list and there was a note included on the transcribed list that stated "The copyist was evidently inexperience in reading manuscripts, and not being familiar with the peculiarity of the formation of certain letters translates some of them incorrectly, such as the long S, translated as P. Other incorrections are evident, such as Wotkins for Watkins." So it is possible that there was a Hardy Powers in Richmond Co NC in 1792 or could it be an incorrect transcription for Barney Powers, a possible nickname for Barnabas Powers. No other Powers were listed. Page 18. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-998Q-3WK2?cat=322563
