Edward was born in 1796 in Albemarle, Virginia. He was the son of Jacob Powers and Ann Shelton. He passed away in 1856 and was buried at Shawnee Cemetery in Warsaw, Benton County, Missouri.[1]
Edward married twice. His first wife was Mary Adeline Green whom he married about 1820. She was born in Virginia about 1799 and died about 1844 in Benton, Missouri. They became residents of Lincoln County, Mo., in 1830, and there spent the remainder of their days.[2]

Edward married Mary Anna Chastain Herndon on June 11 1846 in Benton Co Missouri. [3] They had one daughter, Mary Ellen Powers, born August 1849 in Benton, Missouri
