Earle was born in 1897. He was the son of Charles A. Powers and Maude M. Skelton.[1][2] He married Velma Muriel Higgins in 1921.[3] They had one daughter: Mary Ann (Powers) Philpot (1936–1997).[4] They divorced about 1946.[5]
Earle remarried to Clara T. Law in 1948[5] and was widowed in 1951.[6] In the 1950 census Earle and Clara were in Longmeadow, Hampden, Massachusetts, where he owned a furniture store.[7]
Earle's third wife was Gladys Evelyn Breuninger (from Arizona), who he married 7 Apr 1953 in Massachusetts.[8]
Earle and Evelyn moved to Paradise Valley, Arizona about 1956.[5] He died in 1992.[9][10][11]
Earle Powers joined the Maine National Guard and trained on the naval guns at Ft. ?? He arrived in France in late 1917 and was assigned to an artillery attachment (BATTERY "C" 57th ARTILLERY) consisting of eight French 150mm cannons. In early 1918 they were attached to various units along the Northern French front and were instrumental in stopping Germany’s last offensives in early 1918. From July 18 to Nov 11th they supported Allied offensives at Chateau-Thierry, the Argonne Forest and St. Michael. He returned home in early 1919.
