Biography

Ora (Powers) Gullett was born in Appalachia, in Kentucky.

Ora Myrtle Powers was born on 21 Jul 1894 at Mariba, Menifee County, Kentucky, United States. She was the daughter of Mark Powers and Ennis (Hale) Powers. Ora's mother Ennis is believed to have died shortly before the 1900 US census.

In the 1900 census Ora (age 7) was with her father in the home of her paternal grandparents, James Frisby and Louisa (Lyons) Powers-Frisby at Magisterial District 1, Menifee County, Kentucky, United States. She was incorrectly enumerated in this census.^[1]

Note that her brother Russell was residing with their maternal grandparents in this census.

Ora's father married Annie (Northcutt) Frisby (age 28) on 18 August 1901 at Menifee County, Kentucky, United States.^[2]

Ora and brother Russell are seen with their father, step-mother and half-siblings in the 1910 US census of Menifee County, Kentucky. ^[3]

Ora married Russell Gullutt on 3 March 1912 at Menifee County, Kentucky, United States.^[4] They lived most of their adult lives at Middletown, Ohio. Ora and Russell were parents of three children:

1. Christine C 'Kitty' (Gullett) Etter (1912-1999)
2. Pauline (Gullett) Thiel Warrick Lacy (1919-2002)
3. Paul Gullett (1925-1996)

In the 1920 census Ora (age 25) was the wife of Russel Gullett at Middletown, Butler County, Ohio, United States.^[5]

In the 1930 census Ora (age 36) was the wife of Russell Gullett at 2215 Superior Avenue, Middletown, Butler County, Ohio, United States.^[6]

Note that Nora and Claude were Ora's half-siblings as seen in the 1900 census above.

In the 1940 census Ora (age 47) was the wife of Russell Gullett at 2210 Superior Avenue, Middletown, Butler County, Ohio, United States.^[7]

Russell died (age 73) on 07 March 1956 at Butler County, Ohio.^[8][9] He was buried at Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, Butler County, Ohio. ^[10]

Ora died (age 84) on 27 November 1978 at Middletown, Butler County, Ohio, United States.^[11][12] She was buried at Woodside Cemetery beside Russell. ^[13]
