Biography
Rachel Pratley was born at Furzy Leaze, north of the small village of Widford in Gloucestershire (since 1844 in Oxfordshire), probably in 1830. She was baptised at Widford parish church on 19 September 1830, as the daughter of Charles and Rachel Pratley, of Widford. Her father was described as a gamekeeper. [1] [2] [3]
1841 census: Rachael Pratley was living at Widford with Charles and Rachael Pratley and their other children. Her age was given as 11, implying a birth date in 1829 or 1830. [4]
1851 census: Rachel Pratley was living at "Furzey Lays" in Widford with her parents, Charles and Rachel, and their other children. Her age was given as 20, implying a birth date in 1830 or 1831. Her birthplace was given as Furzey Lays, Gloucestershire. [2]
Richard Pratley, aged 22, son of James Pratley; and Rachel Pratley, aged 26, daughter of Charles Pratley; were married at Wednesbury in Staffordshire on 22 August 1857. [3]
1861 census: Rachel Pratley was living at Field Assarts (near Leafield) with her husband Richard. Her age was given as 30, implying a birth date in 1830 or 1831. Her birthplace was given as Widford, Oxfordshire. [5]
Rachel Pratley died in 1868. [6]
