This record is included to show that daughter Laura Pratt was not living with her parents at the time of the 1875 census. At first that seemed odd, since she would have only been 15 years old. Then I doublechecked the 1870 census above. Her father's real estate had a value of only $50, which was low, even for 1875. I interpreted this to mean that the family was not financially well-off. As soon as their daughters were old enough and able, they were probably married off or sent off to work for someone else and send the money they earned back home to help their parents.

Clearly, Laura did not remain living in Massachusetts. By 1890, she had returned to Stephentown and married widower George Dymond. Laura was a relative of George's first wife, so their children were closer than half siblings. Here's the short story:

• George Dymond's first wife, Abigail Meacham, was a cousin to Laura Pratt's mother, Cynthia Pratt nee Meacham.
• Abigail's grandfather, John, and Laura's mother, Cynthia, were siblings.
• John was the eldest sibling, and Cynthia was 20 years younger than him.
• Laura Pratt and Abigail Meacham's father George W. Meacham were first cousins.
• Cynthia's daughter Laura married Abigail's widowed husband George Dymond.
• Another way to look at it: Laura married her cousin George W. Meacham's widowed son-in-law Georg Dymond. His wife, Abigail Meacham, was Laura's first cousin once removed. Laura's children and Abigail's children were second cousins, as well as half-siblings.

This was George Dymond's second marriage.
