Biography

Ernest was born in 1879. He was the son of Henry Propsting and Hannah Cater.

He married Beatrice Evelyn (nee LADE) in July 1916. Wedding. PROPSTING - LADE. A wedding, which has created more than the usual amount of interest, was celebrated at St Barnabas Church of England by the Rector, on Tbursday last, when Miss Beatrice E. Lade, daughter of Mrs W. Lade, was united in the bonds of matrimony to Mr. Ernest Propsting. Miss Lade had for many years presided as organist at Barnabas Church, and, moreover, has taken so prominent a part in the social and musical life of Scottsdale that it was not surprising that the church, crowded as it was, could not contain the many friends who wished to see her married. The decorations had been carried out very tastefully by Mrs Doward and members of the choir, and beautiful and impressive was the picture presented as the bridal party made their solemn and stately progress up the aisle, the bride in her snow white costume of crepe de chine with its elaborate train carried by her little train-bearer (Lucy Salier), and supported by her brother (Dr Cyril Lade), who had just arrived from Broadmeadows camp in time to give his sister away. Mr H. V. Court, L.T.C.L., presided at the organ, the nuptial hymn, 'O Perfect Love.' being sung at the begining (sic) of the ceremony, and a solo by Mrs (Dr) Lade during the 'signing' interval. The guests, about 50 in number, were then motored to 'Northbourne,' where a dainty breakfast was served and the usual toasts honored. Mr. and Mrs Propsting motored to Launceston shortly after 9 a.m., en route for their wedding tour, before settling down in their new home at Cressy.
