Oliver was the son of Harris Prout and Priscilliar. [1] He was baptized in Middletown on 16 Oct 1757.[2]
Oliver was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. According to his record (from his application for a pension in 1832), he served 6 months in 1776 in Capt. Cowles Co., under Col John Sumner in Connecticut. He then served another 6 months in 1777 under Col. Meigs. In 1778 he served one month under Capt. Camp. and in 1779 he served a brief few days under Capt. Blackman. His last service was for a period of 3 months as a drummer under Capt. Jos. Dart. All were served in the state of Connecticut.[3]
