Biography

William was born in 1830. He is the son of Clement Prowse and Sarah Fulford. William, son of Clement Prowse & Sarah Prowse, was born on 19 September 1830 and baptised on 19 September 1830 in West Teignmouth, Devon, England.^[1][2][3][4]

In the 1841 census Wm (age 10) was in West Teignmouth, Devon, England.^[5]

He married Mary Luscombe before 1854. They had 5 children:

• Sarah A Prowse 1857–
• Emma Louise Prowse 1857–1919
• Alice Louisa Prowse 1863–1944

1861 census record can't be traced on Familysearch, nor can marriage record.

His wife appears as a widow in the 1871 census, so William must have passed away before then. A death record for a WIlliam Henry Prowse exists for the first quarter of 1871 in Newton Abbot. William's death was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1871 in the Newton Abbot district.^[6]

Information on marriage and children independently entered on Familyseasrch by user KeithSmith52, who created Clement on that platform. His notes just say "GEDCOM data". Unsourced, but aligns perfectly with information discovered for Emma Louise Prowse on Wikitree - born in Brixham, Devon, widowed mother Mary, sisters Selina, Sarah and Alice. The Familysearch entry has an extra sister, Maria, that was unknown to the Wikitree profile (possibly died in infancy), so the information must come from an independent source.
